Movie Review: The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021)

The story of Tammy Faye has always been interesting to ever since I saw her on The Surreal Life, back then I did not know who at first, but I was intrigue. The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) is a film that came out last year and it tell her story along with her then husband Jim Bakker, a television evangelist who was doing everything except God’s work. This film is based off a documentary of the same name.

This was a hard movie for me to watch. Not because of the story, but because of the story. There was nothing that really stood out or got my attention enough to really enjoy the film. I was always trying to figure out what was going on, and how did they get here. Jessica Chastain is good at being Tammy Faye, but she was always missing something that I cannot put my finger on. Andrew Garfield is also great at Playing Jim Bakker, I just wanted more. This was a one watch movie for me.

This film is not something that I can say that needs to be seen more than once. If you are a fan of Tammy Faye, then you might think that it great, or at best okay. If you want to learn more about her, I honestly do not think you will. I would give this film 3 out of 5 stars.
