Movie Review: Monster(2003)

This film is one that I have wanted to watch for a long time, but never had a chance to. A couple of days ago I finally got the chance to watch the 2003 movie Monster, the story of serial killer Aileen Wuornos. I must say that is based on the events that lead to her execution.

Charlize Theron stars as Aileen and is unrecognizable. I know people have said that before. This film did come out 20 years ago, but she is. I did not know what to expect when the movie first started. We hear her narration of her life in the early years, while watch what is going on today.

The film also stars Christina Ricci, and she did an excellent job with her performance as her lover. The film is about the murders Aillen did, and the reason she did them. It is also story about love and how much we will do to make that special person happy.

If you are looking to watch a film about murders, I would say this is not it. This is a film about a woman who is fed up with her life and is just looking for ways to survive and to be love, but who is just simply ready for it to be over. I enjoyed watching this more than I thought. This is also the directorial debut of Patty Jenkins.

I would give this 3½ stars. I wish it were a little longer, and I wanted to know just little bit more about her. This is film that I think people should see.
